President John Dramani Mahama has stated that Ghana is at a critical crossroads in its economic development, calling for immediate action to address the pressing challenges facing the nation.
Speaking at the commencement of the National Economic Dialogue on 3rd March, he acknowledged the stark challenges the country is currently facing and the undeniable economic distress it is enduring.
However, President Mahama emphasised that Ghana's collective resilience, ingenuity, and determination have always been the driving forces behind the nation’s progress.
“We are not here merely to recount our struggles, nor are we here to resign ourselves to economic stagnation,” he said.
“We are here to seek solutions and adopt strategies that will put us on a sustainable path, both in terms of growth and ensuring we build an economy that works for every Ghanaian,” he added.
He further stressed that this dialogue is not just another policy discussion, but rather an urgent call to action.
“This is a crucial moment for us, as stakeholders, to unite with purpose and address the challenges that lie ahead,” he added.
“We have gathered here to create a powerful platform where government officials, policymakers, business leaders, economists, industry experts, development partners, and other key figures can come together to shape the future of our nation,” President Mahama added.
He concluded by stating that the insights, diverse perspectives, and actionable recommendations emerging from these discussions must transcend theoretical frameworks.
“They must drive real, impactful decisions that will steer our national economy forward,” he concluded
