President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday, March 6, visited Salakope and Agavedzi in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region, where he assessed the destruction caused by severe tidal waves.
During his visit, the president expressed empathy, and assured the affected residents that the government remains committed to both immediate relief and long-term solutions.

President Mahama acknowledged the urgency of the crisis and emphasised the need to complete the stalled Keta Sea Defense Project as part of a comprehensive approach to coastal protection.
He pledged government support to secure resources for coastal defense interventions.
Residents shared harrowing accounts of displacement, loss of homes, and disrupted livelihoods.
Community leaders appealed for urgent relief, including temporary shelter, food, and financial aid. Many called for the swift completion of the sea defense project to prevent further devastation.
