President John Mahama has expressed confidence in the appointment of the new administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Michael Harry Yamson, praising his extensive experience in institutional reform and financial management.
Speaking at a ceremony to swear in the new Administrator, President Mahama emphasised that the administrator's expertise will be crucial in reinforcing the operations of the DACF, positioning it as a central element of Ghana’s decentralisation agenda.
“I’m confident that you will bring your extensive experience in institutional reform and financial management to strengthen the DACF’s operation and position the fund as a key pillar of Ghana’s decentralisation agenda,” President Mahama remarked.
The President further underlined the importance of efficient fund management, stressing that while competent administration of the DACF is essential, the timely, efficient, and adequate disbursement of resources is just as critical for the success of local governance.
"Beyond the need for competent administration of the fund, my government fully recognises that timely, efficient, and adequate disbursement of resources is equally critical to the success of local governance," he added.
Parliament approved Michael Harry Yamson as the administrator of DACF on March 21.
His appointment was confirmed following a unanimous recommendation by the Appointments Committee, which cited his competence, extensive expertise, and ability to manage the responsibilities associated with the role.
The District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) is a fund established by the Government of Ghana to support the work of local district assemblies in the provision of public goods and services. The DACF provides financial resources to district assemblies to help them in the implementation of their development plans.
