The Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has officially opened the 2025 Africa Land Forces Summit in Accra, highlighting the importance of global cooperation in addressing modern security threats.
The announcement was made via his official Facebook page on Tuesday, 8 April, where he detailed the significance of the event and acknowledged the presence of key stakeholders.
Held at the Kempinski Hotel, the summit welcomed Army Chiefs from 50 nations, including 40 African countries, to discuss pressing security challenges such as cyber threats, violent extremism, and terrorism.

Dr Boamah, speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama shortly after the Ceremonial Change of Guard at Jubilee House, emphasised that the summit represents a mutually beneficial platform for dialogue and collaboration among global security partners.
Dr Boamah underscored the critical role of information sharing, counter-intelligence, and joint counter-terrorism efforts in safeguarding international peace and stability.

He noted that such engagements not only strengthen the defence capabilities of national armed forces but also enhance operational efficiency across allied institutions.

The event was graced by the United States Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Evelyn Palmer, who delivered a speech on behalf of the US Government, commending the summit's objectives.

Dr Boamah expressed gratitude to the US for its support and acknowledged the presence of distinguished guests including members of the diplomatic corps, the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General William Agyapong, Ghanaian service chiefs, SETAF-AF officers, and representatives from industry and academia.
