Afrobeats artiste and songwriter Olivetheboy has opened up about rapper Sarkodie and why he featured him on Bend, one of the songs on his newly released EP Out of the Blue.
In an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show, the musician stated that he featured Sarkodie on Bend because of the bond that existed between the two of them
He was full of praise for the rap legend as he stated that nobody could have executed the song collaboration better.
“Sarkodie is somebody who loved me and my work before and during Asylum time. So, after writing the first verse to close off Bend, I felt there had to be somebody on it, like a rapper. Nobody could have done it better than Sarkodie. We went to the studio and worked on a couple of songs, actually, but Bend is the one I wanted to put in the EP.”
Olivetheboy further hinted at releasing other songs with the rapper in the future.
The fast-rising musician also spoke about the inspiration behind his new EP, sharing that most of the songs are about his love life.
Olivetheboy had his major breakthrough in the industry in 2023 with his hit song Goodsin, which earned him nominations at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
Unfortunately, he did not win in that category. This year, he has been nominated for Most Popular Song of the Year (for Asylum) and Best Afrobeats/Afro pop Artist of the Year, and he is optimistic about winning in all categories.
He urged all Ghanaians to continue voting massively and supporting him to win all his nominations.
Meanwhile, his newly released EP, Out of the Blue, contains singles like Trees, One Bebe, Tattoo and Design. He has also collaborated with celebrated artists like Sarkodie, Qing Madi, and Nigerian Mayorkun on songs such as Bend, Survivor, and A Fuul, respectively.
