A fatal head-on collision between a Yutong bus and a tipper truck is reported to have claimed the lives of four people, with several others sustaining injuries at Assin Bresiako in the Assin North District of the Central Region.
The incident occurred on Monday, May 12, involving a Yutong bus with registration number GT 5136-11, travelling from Cape Coast to Kumasi, and a tipper truck with registration number BA 2267-14, heading in the opposite direction from Kumasi to Assin Fosu.

Eyewitnesses told Radio Fosu and Adom News that the Yutong bus veered off its lane while attempting to overtake and collided head-on with the oncoming tipper truck.
Reports suggest that the bus’s steering wheel locked during the manoeuvre, leading to the deadly crash.

While police have yet to release an official report, eyewitnesses confirmed that four passengers died instantly, and many others were injured and taken to nearby health facilities for treatment.
Elisha Sarpong, the Assembly Member for Assin Bresiako Electoral Area, confirmed the incident to Adom News, stating that the bus was headed to Kumasi after loading from Cape Coast when the crash occurred.
He also shared that the driver's mate on the bus had mentioned the steering lock while overtaking, which led to the accident. The dead include one of the drivers.
