The Ashanti Regional Police Command has launched a crackdown on Thinka Island, a notorious hub for illicit drugs in Kumasi, arresting 34 suspects.
According to Police PRO, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, this operation demonstrates the police's commitment to combating drug-related crimes and protecting lives and property.

The arrests were made in response to a directive by Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, marking a significant step in reclaiming Thinka Island from illicit drug activities.
The suspects are in police custody, and investigations are ongoing, with retrieved exhibits undergoing forensic examination.

In a related operation, the police have arrested 29-year-old Adam Mohammed for illegal trade in narcotics at Aboabo No.1.
During a search, the police retrieved 35 packs of 250mg tramadol, 28 packs of 120mg tramadol, 11 packs of 225mg tramadol, 50 empty cartons used for packaging and transporting drugs and GH₵ 66,950.00 believed to be proceeds from illicit drug sales.
DSP Ahianyo assured the public that the police are working tirelessly to protect life and property in the region.
