The Ghana Police Service has promoted four officers from the Western Central Regional Command for demonstrating diligence, professionalism, and commitment to duty.
The officers are No. 47459 General Sergeant Fetus Gameli Kukuia, promoted to Inspector; No. 52192 General Corporal Christian Asare, and No. 52441 General Corporal Nicholas Kingsley Amoah, both promoted to Sergeant; and No. 59947 General Constable Adam Yakubu, promoted to Lance Corporal.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Police Management Board (POMAB) commended the officers, stating their promotion would inspire other personnel of the Service.
The IGP assured that “dedication to duty and exceptional performance would be both acknowledged and rewarded.”
On April 30, 2025, a day after the murder of five persons at Asiyaw near Nsawam, the Western Central Regional Command arrested three suspects for unlawful possession of arms and ammunition at Bawdie Barrier near Wassa Akropong.
The suspects, Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahab, were travelling on a Grand Bird Bus, registration AS 4431 22, en route to Wassa Akropong, when the officers intercepted and searched the vehicle.
A submachine gun and twenty-one rounds of ammunition were retrieved from Hakeem Imoro.
He later disclosed that the weapon was given to him by his boss, identified as Samuel Atsu Forson alias Alanyo, who had already been arrested in connection with the Asiyaw murders.
Further investigations confirmed that the suspects were directly linked to the incident and were attempting to flee the area.
The Police Service commended the officers for their vigilance and reiterated its commitment to recognising excellence and professionalism in the fight against crime.
