Two-time World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua paid a courtesy visit to the Jubilee House, where he was warmly received by President John Mahama.
The visit formed part of activities surrounding the “Battle of the Beasts” boxing event, hosted by Sharaf Mahama, CEO of Legacy Rise Sports and son of the President.

President Mahama used the occasion to highlight the original vision behind the Bukom Boxing Academy, which was to discover boxing talents from across the country, providing them with a residential facility to live, train, and study.
He expressed regret that the initiative was stalled after his tenure, but was hopeful it could be revived under new momentum.

Reflecting on infrastructure, he noted that while the Bukom Boxing Arena was a major step forward, it could have been a much larger venue to accommodate Ghana’s growing appetite for the sport.
Anthony Joshua, who was in Accra as a special guest for the Legacy Rise Sports event, commended the initiative and said his presence in Ghana signals the start of a deeper commitment to African sports development.

The “Battle of the Beasts” event drew international boxing figures, including former world champion Amir Khan, and spotlighted the growing momentum around Ghana’s boxing scene.
