Two staffers at Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans emerged victorious at the 68th edition of the Asantehene Golf Tournament – open golf championship, attracting participation from seven nations, including Ghana at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.
The tournament brought together a total of 198 golfers, showcasing a vibrant display of skill and sportsmanship.
In the Sponsors A Category in which 15 golfers competed in a stableford format over 18 holes, Pearl Andrews of Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans emerged as the champion with an impressive 50 points, a historic achievement that set an unprecedented record in the annals of the golf club.
Isaac Okyere Darko also of Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans, claimed victory with 14 points in the Sponsors B Category, demonstrating exceptional performance over 9 holes.
The tournament was graced by His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, who officially teed off the competition.
The event, beyond being a sporting spectacle, serves as a platform to strengthen camaraderie among golfers from Ghana and beyond.
It also serves to promote golf as a unifying and developmental sport in the country.
The tournament concluded with a dinner and awards ceremony, hosted by the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace.
The event celebrated the winners and participants, reinforcing the spirit of excellence and fellowship that defines the Asantehene Golf Tournament.
