Eni Ghana, operator of the Joint Venture (JV) that includes Vitol Upstream Tano Ltd, Woodfields Upstream Ghana Ltd, and GNPC Explorco, has officially submitted the Declaration of Commerciality for the Eban-Akoma oil and gas discoveries located in the Tano Basin offshore Ghana.
“The announcement marks a significant step toward the full-scale development of the Eban and Akoma fields, which are expected to boost Ghana’s hydrocarbon production capacity and contribute to the country’s energy security and economic growth”, a statement released by the company said.
The statement said as part of the next phase, Eni and its partners will work closely with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), the Petroleum Commission, and the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition to draft and approve a comprehensive Plan of Development (PoD) for the two discoveries.
“This collaboration reflects the government’s commitment to fostering responsible resource management and advancing its long-term energy transition strategy”, the company said.
Eni Ghana’s submission follows extensive appraisal activities that confirmed the commercial viability of the Eban and Akoma reservoirs. The fields are located within the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) Block, where Eni has been a leading operator since 2009.
The development of the Eban-Akoma fields is anticipated to reinforce Ghana’s role as a regional energy hub while supporting local content initiatives and job creation in the oil and gas sector.
