Ghana international Mohammed Gadafi Fuseini has admitted to a dip in form after what he described as a “strong start” to the season with Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise (USG).
The Right to Dream Academy graduate played a key role in helping USG clinch their first domestic league title in 90 years.
He capped off the season by scoring on his debut for the Black Stars during the Unity Cup.
In an exclusive interview with Joy Sports’ Lawrence Baidoo, Fuseini opened up about the challenges that nearly brought his career to a standstill.
"When we started the season, there were ups and downs," he said. “I started the season pretty well. I had a few goals and assists, but after some games, I felt like I wasn’t in my best shape,” he said.
“It got to a point where I picked up an injury, which affected my availability for the team. When I returned, I had lost my place.”
Determined to bounce back, Fuseini said he remained focused and committed to regaining his spot.
“I had to keep working hard. And when the opportunity came again, I knew I had to prove that I’m still the best in that position.”
Fuseini is currently back in training with Union Saint-Gilloise as they gear up for the upcoming season.
