Firefighters from the Sekondi Metro Fire Station mounted a swift rescue operation early Saturday morning following a road traffic collision at Kumasi-Shama in the Western Region.
According to a statement by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), shared via Facebook, a Dual-Purpose Tender carrying a crew of seven, led by Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO I) Kingsley Anane, was immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving the emergency call.

Upon arrival, the rescue team found a Kia Rano vehicle trapped underneath a larger Nissan Howo truck, with one person pinned inside the wreckage.

Using hydraulic rescue equipment, the firefighters managed to create sufficient space to extricate the casualty safely. The victim was subsequently handed over to the police at the scene.

The extrication operation was successfully completed at 05:35 hours.
The GNFS has not yet confirmed the condition of the rescued victim, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

In its statement, the Fire Service urged all motorists to drive with extreme caution, particularly during the early hours of the morning when visibility and alertness are often compromised.
