Prempeh College is back in the hunt for glory after booking a semifinal spot in the ongoing 2025 Ashanti Regional Zonal Championship of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
The four-time national champions triumphed in their first championship contest, brushing aside competition from Presbyterian SHS, Bompata, Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ SHS, and Armed Forces SHTS.

Prempeh finished with 47 points, comfortably ahead of their closest contender, Presbyterian SHS, Bompata, who scored 25 points. T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, and Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ SHS followed with 17 and 12 points, respectively.

This qualification marks a significant step for Prempeh College, which is aiming to reclaim the zonal championship title it last won in 2021. A victory this year would end a four-year title drought in the zonal competition and build momentum ahead of the national championship.
Already, strong contenders like Kumasi Academy and 2023 champions Kumasi Anglican SHS have secured their own places in the semifinals.
Kumasi Academy made a statement of intent in the first contest of the zonals, not only winning their group with an impressive 57 points but also securing three out of four riddles to qualify for the coveted GOIL Riddle Bonanza.
Armed Forces SHTS, Kumasi, followed with 35 points, while Osei Kyeretwei SHS and Agona SHTS earned 22 and 9 points, respectively.
