Accra Hearts of Oak will take on city rivals Accra Great Olympics in the second edition of the Democracy Cup on Thursday, August 29, 2025.
The Democracy Cup, initially introduced in 2024, is a parliamentary initiative that strategically leverages the unifying power of football.
Its core mission extends beyond mere sport and aims to promote democratic values, civic participation, and peaceful coexistence.
Hearts make a return to the stage once again after missing out on the title last year when they lost to Asante Kotoko in the inaugural edition.
Organised in collaboration with the Parliament of Ghana and key sporting stakeholders, the one-off match is expected to draw huge interest from fans of both clubs and the wider football community.
The highly anticipated second edition of the Democracy Cup is set to kick off with a symbolic clash between Parliament's football team, captained by Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, and the Judiciary's team in an exciting curtain-raiser match.
The exhibition game will precede the main Democracy Cup clash, which will pit Ghanaian football giants Accra Hearts of Oak against Accra Great Olympics later the same day at the Accra Sports Stadium.
