Accra, August 17, 2025 — President John Dramani Mahama has left Accra for official visits to Japan and Singapore as part of efforts to deepen Ghana’s bilateral relations, expand trade and investment opportunities, and strengthen cooperation on shared development priorities.
In Japan, the President will participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX), where he is expected to deliver a presentation at a plenary session on the theme “The Economy: Promoting Trade and Investment.”

He will also address a Ghana Presidential Investment Forum to highlight Ghana’s investment opportunities and the Resetting Ghana agenda. Additionally, President Mahama will hold bilateral meetings with key Japanese leaders, including the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), senior officials of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), and Japan’s Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba. Discussions will focus on trade, investment, infrastructure, and technical cooperation.
The second leg of the visit will take President Mahama to Singapore, where he will spend three days engaging government and private sector leaders.
His itinerary includes a courtesy call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, a meeting with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, participation in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum, and an address at an investment forum to present Ghana’s reform agenda and explore opportunities with Singapore-based investors.
The visits are aimed at attracting investment, widening market access for Ghanaian goods and services, and building partnerships in infrastructure, finance, technology, and human capital development.
