The Minister for Energy and Green Transition John Abdulai Jinapor (MP), on behalf of the President, John Dramani Mahama, has inaugurated the newly reconstituted board of the Energy Commission.
In his address, Mr Jinapor underscored the critical role the Commission plays in the nation's energy sector, stating; "Ghana is at a pivotal stage; Private Sector Participation in the electricity distribution value chain, green transition agenda, Gas as a transition fuel and implementation of the liquid fuel-to-gas swap, Competitive procurement of new generation capacity and standardization of PPAs, and attracting investment for resilient infrastructure.
The Commission is the principal advisor to the government on power issues”.
He emphasised that their decisions would be pivotal in enhancing progress made so far, addressing the current challenges and capitalizing on the opportunities within the power sector.
The Minister further charged the new board, urging them to "Provide strategic direction and visionary leadership. Be bold, innovative, transparent, and uphold good governance."
The Board Chairman Prof. John Gartchie Gatsi expressed gratitude to the President and assured the Minister that the Board decisions would align with government’s key priorities.
