Medical practitioner Dr Yaw Osafo has stated that the individual (Ralph Saint Williams) at the centre of the recent disturbances at Ridge Hospital violated provisions of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 351).
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Thursday, Dr Osafo strongly condemned the incident, stressing that such behaviour undermines public health and the safety of medical professionals.

"There is a Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 351) that provides for the patients chapter, which is a document that outlines patients' rights as well as patients' responsibilities. .... the Public Health Act and patients' chapter give some responsibility to all of us when we become patients and we go to places like Ridge Hospital. As a patient, you are supposed to respect the rights of other patients and the rights of healthcare staff and other staff at a hospital."
"Now I have a question: did the gentleman at the centre of this respect the rights of all other patients who were seeking healthcare at that moment?"
He applauded the nurse involved for pursuing the matter legally and outlined several sections of the Act that were breached during the confrontation.
"I am happy that she has filed a civil suit against the individual. Nobody needs to be threatened at her workplace."
