Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has extended warm congratulations to all five contenders who have successfully filed their nominations to participate in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) forthcoming presidential primaries.
The NPP’s Presidential Elections Committee earlier confirmed that five aspirants had duly completed and submitted their forms. They include:
1. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong
2. Ken Ohene Agyapong
3. Dr. Bryan Acheampong
4. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
5. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum
The internal elections are slated for Saturday, 31 January 2026, to elect a flagbearer to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, 28 August, the Effutu legislator commended the aspirants, describing their step as a significant milestone in “deepening our internal democracy and strengthening the party’s traditions.”
“I extend my warm congratulations to all five Presidential Aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom) who have successfully filed and submitted their nomination forms,” he stated.
Mr Afenyo-Markin further called on the aspirants and their supporters to conduct their campaigns with unity and mutual respect.
“As we move into the next phase of the process, I urge all aspirants and their supporters to conduct their campaigns with decorum, unity, and mutual respect,” he appealed.
He warned against divisive rhetoric, stressing that the collective focus must remain on building a stronger NPP and advancing national development.
Concluding his message, the Minority Leader invoked the NPP’s emblem, declaring: “Indeed, the elephant is a winning symbol!”
