The Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah, has suggested that Kennedy Agyapong's past conduct and outspoken style could pose challenges to his bid to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He noted that while the Assin Central MP has a strong political presence, some of his previous remarks and public outbursts may undermine his chances in the flagbearer race.
Speaking on JoyNews’ *Newsfile* programme on Saturday, August 30, Mr Braimah observed that delegates might weigh Mr Agyapong’s record of “reckless talk” when deciding on who should lead the party into the 2028 elections.
“The way he has carried himself in the past, some of the things he has said, may not work to his advantage in this contest,” he cautioned.
Kennedy Agyapong, who has built a reputation as a fearless and outspoken politician, is among five aspirants who have filed nominations to contest the NPP’s flagbearer slot.
His entry has garnered considerable attention, with many analysts noting both his strong grassroots appeal and the controversies surrounding his political style.
Mr Braimah, however, acknowledged that Mr Agyapong still commands significant support within the party, particularly among those who admire his bluntness.
“He has his strengths, and he has his followers, but in a race of this nature, past behaviour matters, and it will definitely be a factor,” he added.
