Black Stars head coach Otto Addo says he is delighted to hand Derrick Kohn his maiden invitation to the national team ahead of Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
The 26-year-old is currently with the team in N’Djamena and could make his debut against Chad in Thursday’s fixture.
Addo believes the call-up is a chance for the left-back to prove himself.
“I'm happy for him that he made it into the squad and to make it step by step,” he said in an interview with Ghana FA media.
“I think he had a good season last year. And yeah, he has to keep it up. There's concurrence on each position. And yeah, let's see what will happen.”
Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, had backed Derrick to end the country’s “left-back problems”.
Kohn featured prominently on loan at Werder Bremen last season, making 27 appearances and scoring twice.
