The Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Kwabena Boateng, has called on New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates to rally behind former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia by amplifying his message across the country.
Addressing delegates at Effiduase during Dr Bawumia’s tour of the Ashanti Region, Mr Boateng described the former Vice President as an asset whose vision must be promoted widely ahead of the 2028 elections.
“We are privileged to have Dr Bawumia.
He has a good message, and that message must be spread across until we secure victory in 2028,” the Ejisu MP declared, drawing cheers from hundreds of delegates gathered for the event.
Dr Bawumia, who served as the NPP’s presidential candidate in the 2024 elections, is currently touring the Ashanti Region to court support from delegates as he seeks to renew his mandate as flagbearer.
Meanwhile, a former Minister of Trade and former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, KT Hammond, launched a scathing attack on other presidential aspirants within the party.
Speaking at Adansi Asokwa on Wednesday, September 10, he criticised aspirants who flaunt their wealth and boast of their financial contributions to the NPP, describing them as “latter-day braggarts.”
He questioned their whereabouts during the formative years of the party in the 1990s, when, according to him, genuine sacrifices were being made.
Mr Hammond argued that such aspirants, who insult fellow members with their riches, lack the moral authority to lead the party.
He insisted that the majority of grassroots members, whom he described as poor, sympathise with and back Dr Bawumia.
“If they want to turn this party into the rich versus the poor, then we want to tell them that we, the poor, who are in the majority, are for Dr Bawumia,” he said.
“When we wanted money to build the party, where were all these people who are now bragging and insulting us with their money?”
