Policy think tank IMANI Africa has issued a series of recommendations to President John Dramani Mahama’s administration following an assessment of its first six months in office.
The analysis, titled “The Public Understanding and Literacy for Sentiment and Election Analysis (PULSE),” examined public sentiment and policy perceptions between January and June 2025.
Drawing on data from Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, TikTok, podcasts, newsfeeds and the wider web, the report revealed that the initial optimism which greeted the new administration’s “ResettingGhana” agenda has given way to rising scepticism.
Governance controversies, policy contradictions and partisan tensions were cited as key factors reshaping the national conversation.
IMANI observed that while the administration’s fiscal discipline and anti-corruption measures still provide a potential foundation, its capacity to deliver tangible improvements and maintain consistent messaging will be crucial to regaining public confidence.
It warned that without these, early scepticism could harden into lasting disillusionment.
“If the administration is to recover, it must match rhetoric with delivery, avoid contradictions, and engage the youth and civil society with transparency and tangible results,” the report stated, stressing that credibility remains the most valuable political currency in Ghana’s fast-moving media environment.
