Energy and Green Transition Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has urged African leaders, policymakers, and investors to take charge of the continent’s energy future rather than relying on external prescriptions.
He made the call at the 31st Africa Oil Week in Accra on Monday, September 15.
“The future of African energy will not be a product of luck or imitation. We will create it ourselves, through the decisive application of our collective human intelligence,” Mr Jinapor declared.
He challenged participants to move beyond rhetoric and commit to concrete actions.
He stressed that Africa’s abundant natural resources provide a strong foundation for energy sufficiency if managed responsibly.
He called for partnerships that are built on mutual benefit, transparency, and technology transfer.
“I therefore challenge us all to leave this conference with more than just promises and business cards; let us go with a binding commitment to act, create, and combine our intelligence to secure an energy future that is prosperous, sustainable, and distinctly African,” the Minister concluded.
