Energy and Green Transition Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has revealed that international oil and gas companies are showing renewed interest in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector. He disclosed this at the 31st Africa Oil Week in Accra on Monday, September 15.
According to the Minister, government reforms and efforts to build investor confidence are paying off, with major global firms formally expressing strong interest in entering Ghana’s upstream industry.
“Other global energy giants have formally expressed a strong interest in entering Ghana’s upstream sector. We welcome this interest and are actively engaging with them,” he announced.
Mr Jinapor described this development as proof that Ghana is creating a stable and attractive environment for investment.
He emphasised that new entrants will help replenish Ghana’s resource base, generate jobs, and secure the country’s long-term energy future.
“Their potential entry is a powerful validation of our work to create a stable, attractive, and world-class investment environment,” he said, assuring that Ghana would continue to pursue policies that encourage exploration and innovation in the petroleum sector.
