Ghanaian music star Kofi Kinaata says Kumasi has become a major hotspot for him following a public endorsement by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
In an interview with NY DJ on BTM Afrika, Kinaata, who recently performed at Sarkodie’s Rapperholic: The Homecoming Edition at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, revealed that the King’s acknowledgement has boosted his career in several ways, including a surge in streaming and social media numbers.
“Kumasi is becoming a hotspot for me, especially since the endorsement came. The endorsement did a lot for me. It brought in some corporate shows, and my numbers also increased,” he said.
The Asantehene, in September 2024, singled out Kinaata during a Ghana Bar Association event, praising the wisdom and message of appreciation in his hit song Susuka.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II used the track as an example to highlight the relevance of local music and to encourage Ghanaians to embrace appreciation and contentment.
