Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has cautioned his players to step up their game to meet expectations as they face a new look Central African Republic in their penultimate World Cup 2026 qualifier on Wednesday.
CAR, under new coach Rigobert Song, are expected to line up differently from the side that lost to Ghana 4-3 in Kumasi last year.
Addo said his technical team had prepared for multiple tactical scenarios.
“We know what kind of system they could play. They have a new coach. We show the players clips, videos, and we train based on their weaknesses and strengths,” he explained.
“It’s very crucial that the players not only are aware of these things but also adapt on the pitch. Football is a team sport — and even teams without big names can be dangerous if we lose focus,” he added.
Addo said his side had taken lessons from previous games, particularly the narrow win over Chad. “We’ve learned to take things serious to the last minute. We have to stay sharp in every action,” he said.
With Ghana leading Group I and within touching distance of qualification, Addo urged his players to remain disciplined and determined. “We just want to fulfil our expectations. We have to win this game, and we have to fight to the end.”
