The Kusaug Traditional Council, under the leadership of Bawku Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, has formally submitted a petition calling for the creation of a new region for the Kusaug Traditional Area.
The petition was presented on Friday to the Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, by a delegation representing the Bawku Naba.
The delegation included Alhaji Azonko Mahamudu, Chief of the Gumbo Divisional Area; Alhaji Osman Kasim, Chief in Charge of Environment; and John Abugre, a member of the Kusaug Advisory Council.
“It is our hope that the petition will reach the President of the Republic of Ghana for consideration and necessary action,” said Alhaji Azonko Mahamudu, who led the delegation.
In his remarks, Akamugri Donatus Atanga assured the delegation and the people of the Kusal Traditional Area that their request would be forwarded to the President without delay.
"We will promptly submit the document to the President. It is our fervent hope that His Excellency John Mahama will listen to your request," the Minister stated.
Mr Atanga stressed that the creation of new regions serves as an administrative measure to enhance development.
He added that the establishment of a new region would help unlock the area’s resources, thereby promoting growth and improving the livelihoods of its people.
