The Attorney‑General, Dominic Ayine has affirmed that its office is actively collaborating with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on key corruption investigations, countering earlier reports suggesting a breakdown in relations.
According to a press conference at the Jubilee House, the Attorney-General acknowledged that the pace of cooperation has not been as swift as desired.
But the AG insisted that collaboration is ongoing and expressed optimism that the tempo would soon quicken.
“Yes, we are collaborating. Maybe the pace of collaboration is not something that I am happy about, and I don't think that Ghanaians are also happy about the pace at which we are collaborating. But yes, the office of the special prosecutor and my office are collaborating," he explained on Wednesday, October 22.
This statement follows remarks earlier in the week from Sammy Darko, Director of Strategy, Research and Communication at the OSP, who, in an interview with JoyNews, dismissed claims of any institutional rift.
Mr Darko stressed that there is “no bad blood” between the two bodies and attributed any delays to issues of timing and procedural readiness rather than conflict.
While acknowledging that stakeholders expect faster results, the Attorney-General reiterated that building robust, legally sound cases requires time and coordination across agencies.
