A kindergarten pupil, identified only as Daniel, has tragically died after logs fell from a moving truck and crushed him at Aburaso near Adugyama in the Ashanti Region.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, has left residents in shock and mourning, with two other children who were trapped under the logs currently receiving treatment at the Bechem Hospital.
Eyewitnesses say the pupils were returning home from school when the accident happened.
The logs, loaded on a long vehicle, reportedly came loose while the truck was in motion.
“Daniel, together with two other students, were walking along the road back from school when the accident occurred,” an eyewitness recounted.
“The logs fell from the truck while in transit, but unfortunately, they landed on the children, killing Daniel instantly.”
The tragic death of the young pupil has plunged his family and the entire community into grief. Many residents have described the incident as a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers posed by poorly secured timber trucks that frequently ply local roads.
Police officers from the area have since taken over the accident scene and begun investigations into the cause of the crash.
Authorities say efforts are underway to locate the truck driver and determine whether the vehicle met safety and loading regulations.
Meanwhile, residents are calling for stricter enforcement of road safety laws governing the transportation of logs and other heavy materials to prevent similar tragedies.
