The 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women's Premier League season got off to a flying start over the weekend with lots of goals recorded across the Northern and Southern zones.
The Northern zone saw 17 goals from five matches, while the Southern zone games recorded 15 goals on the opening weekend.
In the Northern Zone, Fosu Royal Ladies were the biggest winners from the weekend as they recorded a 5-2 victory over Northern City.
Zonal champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies, were held to a 2-2 draw by FC Savannah while Northern Ladies lost at home to Prisons Ladies.
Dreamz Ladies commanded a 3-1 win over Tamale Super Ladies.
In the Southern Zone, defending champions Police Ladies eased past Halifax Queens on matchday one of the top flight with braces from Grace Animah and Deborah Afriyie.
Jonina Ladies picked up a 4-0 win over Soccer Intellectuals at home, with Army Ladies also upsetting Epiphany Warriors to win 2-1 at the Madina Astro Turf.

Oak Ladies and Hasaacas Ladies played out a goalless draw while newcomers Samartex Ladies defeated LayStrikers 2-1.
Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku was present at the Madina Asto Turf for the ceremonial kickoff. At the same time, Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren also took time to watch the games at the same venue on Friday.
