Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is taking the next phase of his "Our Journey Together" tour to the Central Region, a crucial area in the 2028 NPP primaries.
Dr Bawumia, who has been relentlessly touring constituencies across the country, completed a tour of the Volta Region over the weekend and has now moved straight to the Central Region, beginning, Monday, November 17, 2025.
He began the Central Regional tour in the Awutu Senya East constituency on Monday morning and is expected to visit Gomoa East, Awutu Senya West and Effutu later in the day. Day one of the tour marks the start of his plan to visit all 23 constituencies in the region.
The Central Region has become an area of interest in the 2028 NPP primaries for Dr Bawumia, as it is the home region of another contender, Kennedy Agyapong, who, until the last Parliament, was the MP for Assin Central.
However, ahead of the election in January, surveys have consistently projected Dr Bawumia as being ahead of Kennedy Agyapong in the Central Region—an advantage the former Vice President is seeking to consolidate through his direct engagement with constituencies.
In one of the latest polls by Global Info Analytics, released at the end of September, Dr Bawumia led in the Central Region with 57%, while Kennedy Agyapong followed with a combined 32%.
With the polls conducted before Dr Bawumia’s recent grassroots engagements, his campaign expects to consolidate his lead through his charisma and direct interactions with party delegates.
