The Institute of Engineers & Technology (IET), Ghana, has honoured the Managing Director of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) Ltd., Edmond Kombat, for his exemplary leadership in restoring the long-dormant refinery to productive operation.
The recognition was conferred at the Institute’s 29th Annual General Meeting and Induction Ceremony held on 27 November 2025.
The award follows an official visit by the IET in October to assess progress on TOR’s comprehensive turnaround maintenance programme.

The delegation noted with admiration that all ongoing works were being executed by Ghanaian engineers—many of whom are members of the Institute.
The team praised the refinery’s renewed momentum and commended Mr Kombat for his confidence in domestic technical expertise.
Mr Kombat, who attended the ceremony as a guest of honour, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unexpected recognition.

He reaffirmed TOR’s commitment to placing Ghanaian professionals at the forefront of its transformation agenda.
In his remarks, he stressed that the refinery’s longstanding challenges stemmed not from inadequate engineering capacity but from a deficit in effective leadership.

He emphasised that Ghana possesses the human capital required to drive national industrial progress, underscoring the need for strong, visionary stewardship to unlock the country’s full potential.
