The NPP's Northern Regional Executive Committee has vowed to resist the High Court's decision to annul the Kpandai parliamentary election, with Communications Director Mr Danjuma describing it as a "grave miscarriage of electoral justice" and an "affront to democracy."
According to Mr Danjuma, Honourable Matthew Nyindam remains the duly elected MP, with his position affirmed by the party leadership, Minority Caucus, and Speaker of Parliament.
He emphasised that the party will defend the seat through all legal means and called on supporters to resist the decision with law, truth, and democratic vigilance.
He alleged that the ruling was influenced by high-level NDC politicians, pointing to premature celebrations by NDC supporters in Kpandai and Tamale before the official announcement.
Mr Danjuma warned that the precedent set by the ruling could endanger future elections in Ghana, as it appears to reward violence and electoral malpractice.
He gave the party's account of the December 7, 2024, election, stating that voting was peaceful, but NDC thugs disrupted the collation process, destroying electoral materials.
The Returning Officer relocated the process to Tamale, where Nyindam was declared the winner with 27,647 votes (53.31%) against Daniel Nsala Wakpal's 24,213 votes (46.69%).
Mr Danjuma questioned the court's decision to order a rerun of all 152 polling stations, given that the NDC's petition only challenged 41 stations.
Mr Danjuma argued that the ruling violates electoral jurisprudence and nullifies thousands of lawful votes without cause, constituting judicial overreach of the most dangerous kind.
