Parts of the Greater Kumasi area experienced a power outage on Sunday after a technical fault was recorded on the transmission network of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo).
The fault resulted in a temporary reduction in the amount of power supplied to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), causing electricity disruptions in several communities within the metropolis.
In a public notice, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly explained that engineers from both GRIDCo and ECG had been deployed and were working jointly to identify the cause of the problem and restore full power supply as soon as possible.
As a precautionary measure, security agencies stepped up patrols in the affected areas to ensure public safety and prevent any disturbances during the outage.
Residents have been urged to remain calm as repair works continue. Authorities apologised for the inconvenience and thanked the public for their patience and cooperation while efforts were made to stabilise the power supply.
