Relationship counsellor Perfect has urged women to prioritise employment and financial independence before marriage, stressing that love alone cannot sustain a home.
Speaking on Let’s Talk, Joy Prime’s relationship show hosted by Asieduwaa, Counsellor Perfect said commitment and financial responsibility, not emotions, are what truly keep marriages together.
“Love is not enough. We won’t chop love, and love will not pay the bills,” she stated. “Love is very addictive; it is the same as taking hard drugs.”
She encouraged women to prepare adequately for marriage by working, earning, and learning how to manage their finances while still single.
“If you are a lady, start preparing yourself. Enjoy your singlehood, but it doesn’t mean you should be unemployed,” she said. “Get employed, work, enjoy your singlehood, and understand how to manage your finances before marriage.”
Counsellor Perfect also cautioned men to be discerning when choosing life partners, warning that some women see relationships as a means of financial survival rather than partnership.
“Some ladies are using men as their employment avenue,” she revealed. “Some have three or four men; one pays the rent while the others take care of other things,” she concluded.
