Pious Hadzide, spokesperson for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Bryan Acheampong, says his candidate is uniquely positioned to restore unity within the party ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Speaking on JoyPrime’s morning show on Monday, January 19, Mr Hadzide criticised the other four NPP aspirants, arguing that they have shown limited commitment to fostering cohesion within the party.
“Dr Bryan Acheampong has proven that he is the only candidate, apart from restoring discipline (in the NPP), who is able to really and truly unite the party,” he said.
He suggested that recent comments by one of the contenders point to a deeper problem of disunity within the party.
“A few weeks ago, one of the candidates was asked on a national television that if you do not win the election and Dr Bawumia wins, would you support him? You know what his response was? No answer. That indicates to you that there is a clear and present danger,” Mr Hadzide stated.
The New Patriotic Party is scheduled to hold its presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, with aspirants intensifying campaign activities across the country’s 275 constituencies as the contest enters its final stages.
