Former Yendi MP, Dr Farouk Aliu Mahama, has revealed that his late father, Aliu Mahama, passed away during the 2012 campaign while working closely with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, then the running mate of Presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo.
He made the disclosure on JoyNews’ AM Show on Wednesday, January 21.
“Actually, my late father died on campaign because of Dr Bawumia,” Farouk Aliu Mahama said. “He was actively supporting the campaign alongside Bawumia, promoting the party and advocating for national development.”
He noted that the tragic loss has not diminished the family’s respect and admiration for Dr Bawumia.
“Despite the circumstances, Dr Bawumia has always held our family in high esteem and supported me personally over the years,” he added.
Farouk Aliu Mahama said the relationship between Dr Bawumia and his late father was built on mutual trust and dedication to the NPP.
“My father believed in Bawumia’s competence and vision. Their shared commitment to Ghana was evident until my father’s last days,” he said.
He concluded by reaffirming the Aliu Mahama family’s ongoing support for Dr Bawumia.
“The family stands united behind Dr Bawumia because we trust his leadership and value his guidance for the future of Ghana,” Farouk Aliu Mahama stated.
