A delegation from the Volta Regional House of Chiefs on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, to discuss security concerns and deepen collaboration between traditional authorities and the state.

The delegation, led by the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, used the meeting in Accra to reaffirm the region’s commitment to working closely with the Interior Ministry to safeguard peace and stability.

Mr Gunu thanked the Interior Minister for granting them audience and stressed that sustained security was critical to positioning the Volta Region as a safe and attractive destination for investors.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional leaders, the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Anfoega Traditional Area, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, assured the Minister of the chiefs’ readiness to support national efforts to maintain law and order.

He emphasised that peace and security remain a shared responsibility between government and traditional authorities.

Mr Muntaka welcomed the delegation and commended the chiefs and regional authorities for their role in promoting stability.

He described the Volta Region as one of the most peaceful areas in the country, citing available security data, and urged traditional leaders to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at preserving peace nationwide.

The Interior Minister reiterated that sustained collaboration with chiefs and community leaders remains central to Ghana’s security architecture, particularly at the local level.
