Government Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has revealed that none of the hospitals under the Agenda 111 initiative were operational before the end of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration.
Speaking on JoyNews AM Show on Monday, January 26, Mr Kwakye Ofosu said, “It is a fact that before the Akufo-Addo government left office, not a single hospital under Agenda 111 was functional. The projects were ongoing, but none were serving patients as intended.”
He added that while the hospitals were part of a bold plan to improve health infrastructure, the previous government failed to complete them in a way that delivered immediate healthcare benefits.
“The intention was there, but the implementation fell short. The facilities were mostly under construction and could not serve the public,” he noted.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu emphasised that the current administration is focused on completing and commissioning the hospitals to ensure they become fully operational and accessible.
“Our priority now is to fast-track these hospitals so that they can contribute meaningfully to healthcare delivery across the country,” he said.
He further criticised the political use of the unfinished hospitals, arguing that the earlier administration highlighted them as achievements despite their lack of functionality. “
It is misleading to present incomplete projects as operational successes. The people deserve tangible results, not unfinished structures,” he stated.
