One person has been confirmed dead following a violent clash between two youth factions at Sankor, a suburb of Winneba in the Central Region.
The cause of the confrontation remains unclear, although videos circulating on social media show members of the rival groups wielding machetes during the incident.
The clash reportedly occurred on Sunday, January 25.
Confirming the incident, the Winneba Divisional Police Commander, ACP Ibrahim Opoku, said several individuals sustained injuries during the violence.
He disclosed that police have since arrested several suspects after reviewing footage of the incident.
Meanwhile, information gathered indicates that the deceased, identified only as Excoba, died after suffering multiple machete wounds and gunshot injuries during the clash.
ACP Opoku assured residents that police have intensified security operations in the area to prevent further disturbances.
He said calm has since been restored in the community, while investigations continue to establish the cause of the clash and bring all perpetrators to justice.
