A 27-year-old driver’s mate, Emmanuel Mensah, alias “Toxic,” has been sentenced to 36 months’ imprisonment by the Kwadaso Circuit Court for stealing.
Mensah pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea.
Police Chief Inspector David Opoku Kwabi told the court, presided over by Jephthah Appau, that the complainant, Vashti Adwoa Apperkon, an Accra-based event planner, discovered on January 18, 2026, that her bedroom window had been damaged and that items had been stolen.
The stolen items included two iPhones, a Samsung Galaxy phone, an iWatch, other belongings valued at GHS34,000, and a bag containing $20, 20 Canadian dollars, 20 pounds, and GHS650.
Following investigations, Mensah was arrested at Asafo. He admitted breaking into the room, stealing the items, and selling them to an accomplice, now at large.
He said he converted the foreign currencies and used the proceeds for personal expenses. Following the investigation, he was charged and sentenced.
