New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Dr Bryan Acheampong, has asserted that he is the only contender in the race who has campaigned in every part of the country, arguing that such extensive engagement is essential for effective party leadership.
Addressing party delegates at a rally in Kumasi on Wednesday, Dr Acheampong questioned the depth of outreach by some of his rivals, suggesting that their campaign tours had not covered all constituencies nationwide.
He cited the Upper East Region as an example, noting that one aspirant who recently declared the completion of his campaign had visited only nine out of the region’s 15 constituencies and did not extend his tour to the Bawku zone.
According to Dr Acheampong, similar gaps were evident in the campaigns of other contenders, including former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, and former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Highlighting his own efforts, Dr Acheampong said he personally campaigned in the Bawku zone, engaging communities in Kusasi land as well as Mamprusi land, which he described as a demonstration of commitment to inclusive national engagement.
He stressed that anyone seeking to lead the NPP and serve as its presidential candidate must be prepared to reach every constituency across the country, insisting that nationwide presence is a fundamental requirement for credible leadership.
“I have been able to campaign across the country. I am the only one who has been able to campaign across the entire country. Today, I saw one of my opponents say that he has completed his campaign, but when he went to the Upper East Region, he could not reach the Bawku zone."
"He only visited nine out of the 15 constituencies in the region. Ken did the same. Bawumia did the same. I am the only one who went to the Bawku zone, campaigned in Kusasi land, and also visited Mamprusi land."
"If you want to lead the NPP and become the presidential candidate, you have to campaign in all constituencies. If you want to lead this party, you must tour the entire country, just as I have done.”
