An accident involving a tricycle, known popularly as ‘Okada’, has claimed the life of a seven-year-old girl and left two of her siblings injured at Adankwame in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
The ‘Okada’ rider reportedly knocked down the three children who were standing by the roadside in front of the Adankwame Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Rasmiya Abdul Rahaman. The other two injured siblings are Rasmid Abdul Rahaman and Musharraf Abdul Rahaman, aged 7 and 11 years respectively.
Their father, Musah Yussiff, confirmed the incident. He said the injured children are receiving medical treatment.
An eyewitness told Adom News the children were standing by the roadside waiting to cross when the Okada rider lost control and ran over them.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the family house in line with Islamic customs, pending police clearance for burial.
The rider also sustained injuries in the accident and has been admitted to the Asuofua Government Hospital for treatment.
