The Office of the Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, has dismissed as false a series of promotional posters circulating on social media which claim that the Minister intends to contest for the flagbearership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a statement issued by the Secretary to the Minister for Education, Hashmin Mohammed, the Office said it had been alerted to the circulation of the posters, describing them as misleading and unauthorised.
The statement categorically denied any involvement of Haruna Iddrisu or his office in the production or circulation of the materials.
“The Office wishes to state unequivocally that these posters did not originate from Hon. Haruna Iddrisu or his office,” the statement said, urging members of the public to disregard the claims and treat them with “the utmost contempt they deserve”.
According to the statement, Haruna Iddrisu remains fully focused on his responsibilities as Minister for Education and as Member of Parliament for Tamale South and is not engaged in any campaign for internal party leadership.
The Office further disclosed that the Minister is currently in Lusaka, Zambia, where he is accompanying President John Dramani Mahama on official engagements.
While in Zambia, Iddrisu is working closely with the President to advance the government’s Reset Ghana agenda, with particular emphasis on reforms and initiatives within the education sector, a portfolio entrusted to him by the President.
