A group calling itself Concerned Citizens of Ghana has withdrawn its petition demanding a probe into the alleged unlawful involvement of an unlicensed individual in GoldBod Ghana’s operations.

The group stated that the matter is now before the courts.

In a letter dated 8th January 2026, addressed to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), the citizens formally retracted their earlier allegations against Mr Roger Frimpong Kwakye and his company, Goldstrom.

“Due to recent information of the court matters raised in our petition, we wish to withdraw the Petition made against it,” the group wrote, effectively halting their request for an investigative probe into potential abuses within the state gold trading system.

The initial petition, filed earlier, had raised “grave concerns” that Mr Kwakye—who is reportedly under active OSP investigation for matters relating to “financial loss to the State”—was playing a central role in critical GoldBod activities.

The petitioners argued that this was a clear violation, as Goldstrom is not a licensed entity under the GoldBod regime, which restricts key functions like assaying and pricing strictly to certified companies.
