Black Princesses head coach, Charles Sampson, believes his side lacked the needed calmness in the final third of the pitch in their game against South Africa.
Ghana's U20 female squad settled for a 2-2 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium in the third round of their 2026 FIFA Women's World Cup Qualifiers despite leading twice in the game.
Only Agnes Yeboah and Linda Owusu Ansah got on the scoresheet for the Princesses despite the numerous chances created on the day.
The home side also had a late goal, 'questionably' disallowed for offside, but Sampson believes their ineffectiveness was due to a lack of calmness.
"Our aim was to win this game. Our aim was to get goals. We dominated the game which was also one of our plans," he said.
"We created chances, but I think what we lacked was the calmness to convert the chances into goals. We scored the third goal that I think was questionable [to disallow] because we played the ball to the line, and we cut it inside."
The Black Princesses will need to win against South Africa to advance to the final round of the qualifying series, where they could face either Zambia or Uganda.
