Parts of Ghana's Northern, Middle, and Western Regions experienced power supply interruptions on Monday, February 9, 2026, following a fault on some transmission lines operated by the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo).
The state-owned transmission company disclosed in a statement on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, that the fault occurred at 3:16 p.m., causing a system disturbance across the affected regions.
GRIDCo said swift and coordinated restoration efforts led to the full restoration of the National Interconnected Transmission System the same day at 8:09 p.m., ending the nearly five-hour power disruption.
In its statement, the company assured the public that measures are continually being implemented to strengthen the reliability and resilience of the transmission network.
"GRIDCo assures the public that measures are continually being implemented to strengthen the reliability and resilience of the transmission network to minimise the occurrence of such incidents," the statement read.
The company apologised to affected customers and stakeholders for the inconvenience caused by the outage.
"We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank all stakeholders for the patience and understanding," GRIDCo stated.
