Simon Apusiga, alias Ananga, 42, has been arrested by the Upper East Regional Police Command in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Bawku West District on February 8, 2026.
The suspect was arrested two days later at his hideout in Tarkwa Huni Valley, Western Region, following an intelligence-led operation.
A press release issued by Police Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and copied to the Ghana News Agency, stated that the suspect was in police custody and was assisting with investigations.
“A special team deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has arrested one person in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Upper East Region on February 8, 2026,” it said.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect fled Zebilla shortly after the incident and was traced to the Western Region.”
“The suspect, Simon Apusiga, alias Ananga, aged 42, was arrested on 10th February 2026 following an intelligence-led operation at his hideout in the Tarkwa Huni Valley area.”
He would be put before the court to face the full rigours of the law, the release said, adding that efforts had been intensified to arrest other suspects involved.
