The Office of the Ga Mantse has officially confirmed that His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II narrowly escaped disaster after his vehicle was involved in a serious road accident in the Oti Region.
The incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, 17th February 2026, as the King was returning to the capital following an urgent mission.
In a statement released on Thursday, 19th February 2026 and signed by the Chief of Protocol and Communications, Amb. (Sir) S.J.K. Parker-Allotey, the office expressed gratitude for the King's safety, noting that there were no fatalities resulting from the crash.
Swift evacuation and medical recovery
Following the impact, the King and his entourage were assisted by the Ghana Police Service and royal aides present at the scene. The entire team was successfully evacuated to Accra for immediate clinical assessment.
Medical reports indicate that the recovery process is proceeding well, and all those involved have been discharged in stable condition.
“By the grace of God, there were no casualties... they were all successfully evacuated to Accra, where they underwent medical checks and were discharged in very stable condition,” the statement confirmed.
A King’s gratitude
The Ga Mantse has directed his office to convey his deepest appreciation to the emergency evacuation team and his aides for their swift response. He also extended his thanks to the public for the outpouring of prayers and well wishes received since the news of the incident first broke.
Returning to the Throne
The palace has assured the public and the people of the Ga State that the continuous medical monitoring of the King and his staff is positive. It is expected that the Ga Mantse will return to his official duties in the coming days.
The Office of the Ga Mantse continues to monitor the health of all individuals involved to ensure a full and robust recovery.
